Stargate movie plans cancelled due to Financial Reasons

Alaina Huffman, Stargate actress, shared the show’s abandoned plans on having film for the television series. Stargate producer Mallozi mentioned earlier about the production’s plan of making a movie it was intended to be the comeback of the show and end it right. However, the plan seemed to have been scrapped.

Huffman explains that the Stargate team exerts great effort to put together the movie. The actress thinks of the idea as something good since the show was put off air too soon. Huffman said that the movie would be a great way to share the story of the franchise.

Their plan for the first film is to explain to the viewers about the Stargate Universe. The second film will feature all stars of the Stargate. The actress confirmed that Brad Wright, co-creator of the series, planned to make two movies out of the franchise. As said, the first one will be an introduction of Stargate and the second one about the casts.

However, due to insufficient funding, the production could not pursue. She said that she wonders why the producers could not get funds for the movie. The actress blames the early cancellation of the show to Spyglass Entertainment who bought MGM.

Since MGM is already run by Spyglass, they could not get funds for the movie because the company is not interested with the franchise.

Stargate final episode was aired last May 9 on Syfy.
